The Garrett Music Academy has continued to evolve its standards of learning since launching its home school program in 2007.  Each semester has offered the flexibility those families which choose to home school their children rely upon while continuing to raise the bar.

During the Winter 2012 Semester the class will:

    • continue to focus on applied music and performance.  The focus will be orchestration.
    • make a concerted effort to facilitate improvements on his or her instruments through focused and disciplined    practice
    • enjoy sub units on sound engineering and recording as well as live performance
    • students will raise the bar again on their ability to read written music
    • each student will be individually challenged to raise the bar on their personal performance ability and understanding of music, this includes attitude and a respectful approach to music as a wide and vast topic with a lifetime of learning material
    • continue to develop the skills required to memorize vocabulary and nomenclature essential for performing music

Students should bring material and instruments to class each week. If a student does not bring their sheet music, they will be invited to hand copy music from another student. If a student has not taken advantage of practice time to prepare material, they will be invited into a classroom on their own to work with a metronome and the piece of music they need work with.
